Super-Directional Read Typeface “KABUKU (傾)”

“Super-directional fonts” are fonts with a limited readable orientation. They can be clearly recognized as characters when viewed from a certain direction, but from other directions, they take on shapes that are not even recognizable as letters. Furthermore, this readable orientation can be varied in various ways.

By using typefaces with these characteristics, new ways of presenting information and designing experiences can be realized. For example, in-building signage could be zoned to only reach people walking from a specific direction, or by differentiating information based on eye level, words readable only by children and words readable only by adults could be displayed side-by-side.
